NeXtGenIRC is a script for mIRC that started life as a couple of addons I scripted and put together in 1998. Since then it has developed into a full script with numerous enhancements and features. The current version (2.05) has issues with Windows 7. Version 3 was planned in 2009 and I started work on it, but due to failings in third party DLLs and a heavy work schedule it was scrapped.
In January 2010 I decided to start work on NXG4. A radical new idea was to make a totally new GUI for mIRC and include recoded/scripted versions of all the features in 2.05, plus some more new stuff. Since January work has progressed well. Developed on WinXP, but tested on Vista and Win7 it is 100% coded by me. Absolutely no third party stuff at all, since I got tired with the bugs in other authors DLLs that weren’t being fixed. This time, all the bugs are my own and it’s up to me to fix them!
While development on NXG4 continues, I will support 2.05, but that will stop when NXG4 is released. Bringing mIRC into the 21st century, I see NXG4 as a unique script… there is nothing like it out there. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I am enjoying developing it.
Keep an eye on the “Blog” section of this site for the latest progress news, as well as Twitter (I’ve just started using it!). Thanks.
